Indigenous Internship Program Lead

About the role

The Indigenous Internship Program Lead will oversee the Indigenous Internship Program (IIP) at the Museum of Anthropology, UBC. This term position supervises eight interns annually, collaborates with Indigenous partners, and ensures the program delivers high‑quality training and cultural enrichment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the IIP, serving as the primary supervisor for all interns.
• Work with the external IIP Steering Group and internal MOA IIP Working Group to develop recruitment, intake, and evaluation policies.
• Design and implement individual placement training plans with museum staff.
• Maintain the program timeline, oversee the project budget, and prepare regular reports.
• Engage the broader UBC community to create enrichment experiences for interns.
• Build and sustain relationships with cultural and heritage institutions across BC, Canada, and internationally.

Required profile

• Proven experience in program or project management, preferably within museums or cultural heritage sectors.
• Strong supervisory and mentorship abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous partners and stakeholders.
• Excellent budget management and reporting skills.
• Effective communication and relationship‑building capabilities.
