In-House Counsel

About the role

The In‑House Counsel will provide expert legal advice and support to NGE Canada’s business units, focusing on contractual and regulatory matters related to infrastructure and construction projects. Reporting to the Country Managing Director and the Group Legal department, the role combines strategic guidance with hands‑on case management.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the Group’s Quality, Safety and Environmental policies to all legal activities.
• Provide legal support during the preparation of bids, tenders and commercial proposals.
• Oversee contract management and performance of works contracts.
• Advise internal clients on general legal and contractual issues.
• Handle claims, disputes and litigation, ensuring effective resolution.
• Monitor and administratively manage legal cases.
• Contribute to a collaborative and positive work environment.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (or equivalent) from a Canadian university, with a double degree in common law and civil law.
• Admission to the bar and qualification as a Canadian lawyer.
• 5‑10 years of experience in corporate, public procurement or contract law, either in a law firm or as in‑house counsel.
• Strong autonomy, rigor, integrity, discretion and flexibility.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
• Experience in infrastructure law or public/private tenders is a plus.
