ICU Clinical Instructor – Critical Care

About the role

The Misericordia ICU at Covenant Health seeks a dedicated Clinical Instructor to lead staff education and support high‑quality care for critically ill adult patients, including those with neuromuscular conditions. This full‑time position blends clinical expertise with teaching responsibilities in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and evaluate orientation and in‑service training for ICU staff.
• Provide clinical consultation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
• Develop and revise department policies, procedures, and committee contributions.
• Maintain personal clinical competence through active patient care participation.
• Ensure adherence to Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values in all educational activities.

Required profile

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent.
• Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Minimum three years recent critical‑care nursing experience.
• Demonstrated teaching, leadership, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Flexibility, resourcefulness, and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Critical‑care nursing expertise.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Level C certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) instruction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized clinical systems.
