Ice Maintenance Technician – Non Ticketed

About the role

The Ice Maintenance Technician ensures the ice surfaces at Canlan Sports facilities are kept in optimal condition for safe and enjoyable play. This hands‑on position involves operating specialized equipment, performing routine upkeep, and supporting overall facility cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the ice resurfacer and edger to flood, smooth, and maintain rink surfaces.
• Measure ice depth, chop/spud, level, and paint ice as required.
• Repair dasher board systems, arena glass, and hockey nets.
• Perform janitorial duties, including vacuuming, auto‑scrubbing, waxing, and floor care.
• Maintain entrances, grounds, and parking areas, including grass cutting and seasonal snow removal.
• Conduct minor maintenance on equipment, such as safety checks, blade changes, and greasing.
• Complete checklists, records, and equipment sign‑out logs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (preferred).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Team‑oriented with strong communication skills.
• Organised, self‑motivated, and proactive.
