Human Resources Generalist – Montreal

About the role

Reporting to the Sr. HR Manager (North America), the HR Generalist will manage the full employee lifecycle in Montreal, handling HR inquiries, manager training, employee relations, and immigration support in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with managers to address employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
• Build strong relationships with employees and managers to foster a positive, compliant work environment.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian federal and provincial employment standards and stay current on province‑specific regulations.
• Support policy creation, audits, reporting, and internal compliance reviews.
• Collaborate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate processing and serve as primary point of contact for employee pay and benefits questions.
• Administer benefits enrollments, changes, and vendor coordination.
• Manage onboarding, job changes, and off‑boarding processes throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Provide administrative support for immigration processes, including work permits and documentation, in partnership with external counsel.
• Maintain data accuracy in HR systems and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Support HR training initiatives and develop HR resources and documentation while maintaining confidentiality.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial employment standards.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and handling disciplinary actions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion.
• Proactive relationship‑builder with managers and employees.
• Interest in learning U.S. employment compliance and supporting U.S.‑based employees on an ad‑hoc basis.
