HR Assistant – Human Resources & Administration

About the role

We are seeking an HR Assistant to support the Human Resources and Payroll function within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. The role involves managing complex staff and student appointment processes and addressing payroll issues across multiple partner organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee staff and student appointment processes for the Department of Pediatrics and BC Children’s Hospital.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure accurate payments.
• Explain and orient partner organisations (BCCHR, BCCH, Women’s Hospital) to UBC payroll, finance and HR policies.
• Collaborate closely with the Human Resources Coordinator and report to the Senior Human Resources Manager.
• Maintain records and support day‑to‑day HR administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Experience supporting HR and payroll functions in a complex, multi‑institution environment.
• Ability to work with academic and clinical staff across university and health‑service settings.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
