Housekeeping Aide (Part Time)

About the role

The Housekeeping Aide supports the Environmental Services Manager by ensuring resident apartments and common areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. This part‑time position is based in a long‑term care home in Blenheim and focuses on daily sanitation and upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Clean resident apartments and shared spaces according to the assigned schedule.
• Maintain furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, and windows.
• Operate floor‑care machines and steam‑cleaning equipment safely.
• Strip, scrub, spray, and buff carpet and non‑carpet flooring.
• Collect and transport garbage to designated disposal areas.
• Follow residence policies, safety rules, and documentation procedures.
• Participate in in‑service training, staff meetings, and quality‑improvement programs.

Required profile

• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques; commercial, residential, or healthcare cleaning background is desirable.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet physical job requirements.
• Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) clearance.

Required skills
