Hospitalist (Acute Inpatient Medicine)

About the role

Cariboo Memorial Hospital is seeking a Hospitalist to join its acute inpatient medicine team. The position offers the chance to work in a collaborative, community‑focused environment while providing comprehensive care for complex medical patients and co‑managing surgical cases.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the most responsible physician (MRP) for complex medical inpatients.
• Co‑manage surgical patients and provide palliative care as needed.
• Maintain a caseload of 12‑16 inpatients per 8‑hour shift.
• Collaborate closely with specialists and family physicians across the hospital.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary rounds.

Required profile

• Medical degree with eligibility for licensure in British Columbia.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and patient‑centered care.
• Willingness to work full‑time, part‑time, or locum as needed.
