High Voltage Substation Designer

About the role

RCMT Energy Services is seeking a High Voltage Substation Designer to join its Mississauga team. You will use advanced 3D CAD tools to create detailed designs for high‑voltage substations, supporting both new builds and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Design physical layouts for AIS/GIS substations, including elevations, grounding, lighting, cable trays, raceways, trenches, duct banks, and conduit systems.
• Prepare conceptual, bid, and construction design packages with detailed drawings and material lists.
• Collaborate with electrical, civil/structural, and architectural teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Support engineers and designers in resolving technical challenges.
• Occasionally travel to client sites to gather field data and assist with project execution.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working as a drafter/designer with the ability to perform at a designer level.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, results‑oriented mindset with strong teamwork skills.
• Eligibility to work in Canada (permanent resident or valid work permit).
