Heavy Equipment Operator – Construction

About the role

Alcove Construction Ltd. is seeking a reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join its outdoor grading and excavation team in Winnipeg. The role involves operating a range of machinery safely while supporting demolition and site preparation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe excavators, loaders and graders on construction sites.
• Conduct pre‑operational checks, clean, lubricate and refill equipment tanks.
• Secure special attachments and perform minor equipment repairs.
• Maintain accurate logs, complete accident reports and follow MSDS guidelines.
• Communicate via two‑way radios and coordinate with site personnel.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 2 to less than 3 years of experience operating construction equipment.
• Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.

Required skills

• Backhoe excavator operation.
• Loader and front‑end loader operation.
• Grader operation.
• Hydraulic pumping system operation.
• Equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
