Heavy Equipment Grader Operator – Mining Site

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Grader Operator to join our remote mining team at the Suncor Basemine near Fort McMurray. You will operate motor graders to maintain roadways, loading and dump areas, and support safe earth‑works in a fast‑paced mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate articulating motor graders (16‑24 ft blade) from brands such as Caterpillar and John Deere.
• Read grade stakes and use GPS equipment to achieve required road grades.
• Perform pre‑use equipment inspections and complete field‑level risk/hazard assessments.
• Fuel, service, and safely operate the grader in coordination with light vehicles, haul trucks, and loading equipment.
• Follow mine driving rules, safety policies, and client/legislated standards.
• Report repairs, incidents, near‑misses, and any safety concerns immediately.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience operating graders (16 ft or larger); M‑series experience is a plus.
• Experience in haul‑road maintenance or mining earthworks preferred.
• Ability to read grade stakes and operate GPS‑based grading systems.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract (checked within 30 days).
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
