Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice (1st/2nd Year)

About the role

We are seeking a 1st or 2nd year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our Grande Prairie maintenance team. You will work hands‑on with Link‑Belt and Tadano cranes, trailers and trucks, focusing on preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to keep equipment safe and job‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on cranes, trailers and support equipment.
• Complete oil changes, brake work, tire service, suspension repairs and annual preventive maintenances.
• Support annual crane certification requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, fuel, hydraulic (hoses and seals) and air‑brake systems.
• Record hours, mileage and maintenance activities using logbooks and a tablet.
• Collaborate with crane operators to identify issues early and keep equipment operational.
• Conduct shop safety audits and promote a safety‑first culture.

Required profile

• 1st or 2nd year Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
• Experience working on heavy equipment or cranes (earth‑movers, CAT preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude across electrical, hydraulic, suspension and air‑brake systems.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work locally.
