Heavy Duty Mechanic (3rd Year Apprentice or Journeyman)

About the role

We are seeking a 3rd‑year apprentice or journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Grande Prairie maintenance team. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of Link‑Belt and Tadano cranes, trailers and support equipment. Work is primarily branch‑based with occasional support trips to Fort St. John, BC.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on cranes, trailers and support equipment, including oil changes, brake work, tire service and suspension repairs.
• Complete annual preventive maintenance and assist with crane certification requirements.
• Record hours, mileage and maintenance activities using logbooks and a tablet.
• Collaborate with crane operators to identify issues early and keep equipment operational.
• Conduct shop safety audits and promote a safety‑first culture.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, fuel, hydraulic (hoses and seals) and air‑brake systems.

Required profile

• 3rd‑year Apprentice or Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
• Experience working on heavy equipment or cranes (earth movers, CAT, or similar preferred).
• Strong mechanical aptitude across electrical, hydraulic, suspension and air‑brake systems.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work locally.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
