Health Care Assistant Instructor

About the role

Discovery Community College is seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructor to deliver on‑site and online theory courses. This part‑time position starts on August 10, 2026 and offers the chance to shape the next generation of nursing professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning in classroom and virtual settings, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and evaluations.
• Deliver lesson plans aligned with PTIRU‑compliant curriculum.
• Assess student performance and give constructive feedback.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, including maternity, mental health, or acute care.
• Current full registration with BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN.
• Recent experience (within two years) in a Canadian long‑term care facility.
• Strong communication and mentorship abilities.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and positive educational experiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Office 365.
• Experience using Student Information Systems (SIS).
