Head of Tax

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Tax to lead our Canadian and U.S. tax functions for one of Canada’s largest and fastest‑growing healthcare services organizations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will act as the primary tax advisor on compliance, provisions, M&A, transfer pricing and audit matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee Canadian and U.S. tax compliance, filings and audit interactions with CRA and IRS.
• Own quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740 / IAS 12) and related financial statement disclosures.
• Develop and maintain cross‑border transfer pricing policies and documentation.
• Support mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions with tax structuring and due diligence.
• Partner with Controllership, Treasury, Legal, Corporate Development and external auditors on tax‑related issues.
• Monitor legislative changes in Canada and the United States and assess their impact.
• Present tax matters to executive leadership, the Audit Committee and external auditors.
• Lead, mentor and manage one direct report while running day‑to‑day tax operations.

Required profile

• 10‑12+ years of progressive corporate tax experience.
• Canadian CPA designation (required).
• Strong expertise in both Canadian and U.S. corporate taxation.
• Big Four public‑accounting background preferred.
• Experience in public‑company or private‑equity‑backed environments.
• Hands‑on experience with M&A and acquisition‑driven tax planning.
• Proven ability to manage CRA and IRS audits.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
