Head Facility Operator – School Facilities

About the role

The Head Facility Operator leads the daily operations of the William Grayson School facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment for students and staff. This permanent, onsite position works closely with the Principal and Facilities Supervisor to guide the facility team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day facility operations and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate and train new Facility Operator staff.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor cleaning programs throughout the school.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including fire and hazardous material standards.
• Maintain records of equipment use, supplies, and work orders.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 diploma or GED.
• Valid Fireman’s certificate if required by legislation.
• WHMIS certification.
• At least six months experience in a cleaning or caretaking role.
• Working knowledge of computers and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Ability to deliver clear written and oral instructions for safe equipment use.
• Physical ability to perform heavy work and access crawlspaces, attics, roofs, and ladders.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $25.62 (CUPE Local 5512 agreement).
• Full‑time permanent position (7 am – 4 pm).
