About the role
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen in Winnipeg, focusing on East Indian cuisine. The role involves overseeing daily operations, creating innovative menus, and ensuring high‑quality food for banquet and specialty events.
Key responsibilities
- Estimate amounts and costs of supplies and food items, and maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory.
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
- Supervise and train specialist chefs, sous‑chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers.
- Create new recipes, plan menus and ensure food meets quality and allergy standards.
- Consult with clients for weddings, banquets and specialty functions and prepare meals for these events.
Required profile
- Other trades certificate or diploma in culinary arts or a related field.
- 1 to less than 2 years of experience as a chef in a restaurant or catering environment.
Required skills
- East Indian cuisine expertise.
- Menu planning and recipe development.
- Cost estimation and inventory management.
- Ability to train and instruct kitchen staff.
