Group Leader, Applications Engineer - Industrial Hydraulics

About the role

Bosch Rexroth is looking for a Group Leader, Applications Engineer for its Industrial Power Module (IPM) Applications team in Canada. The role leads the applications team, develops team capability, balances and prioritizes workload, and ensures timely, high-quality execution of IPM applications and projects. It covers system analysis, hydraulic circuit design, quotations, material specification, documentation, component selection, customer engagement and cross-functional coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical and commercial performance of IPM applications and projects across Canada and drive business growth through system solutions for targeted industries.
• Lead, coach and develop the IPM Applications team, set expectations, provide regular feedback and create individual development plans.
• Assess team capabilities and skill gaps, set training and cross-training priorities, and support succession planning and knowledge transfer.
• Plan, prioritize and balance workloads across quotations, customer support, projects, commissioning and strategic initiatives, and monitor capacity, deadlines, quality and delivery.
• Delegate responsibilities while maintaining accountability for technical quality, customer commitments and team performance.
• Perform and oversee system analysis, hydraulic and mechatronic circuit design, component selection, material specification, technical documentation and quotation development.
• Develop customer strategies, support commercial negotiations, pricing and margin optimization, order acquisition and technical order reviews, and provide technical support during start-up, commissioning and acceptance.
• Work with IPM Project Managers, Product Management, Controls, Automation and Electrification, and build relationships with global IPM teams and application centres in the United States and Germany.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering or a related discipline; Ontario Professional Engineer designation preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial hydraulics, mechatronic design, engineered systems or a related technical applications environment.
• 5+ years of experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
• Strong customer relationship and value-added selling skills, and experience with technical quotation proposals and documentation.
• Demonstrated project management, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Industrial hydraulics, hydraulic and mechatronic circuit design, component selection and system design.
• Proficiency with SAP/ETO, SETi, Sytronix Size and simulation software.
