Group Home Worker – Support for Individuals with Disabilities

About the role

The Group Home Worker provides direct support to adults living in a group home setting, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life. You will work closely with clients who have intellectual, mental health, or physical disabilities, ensuring their daily needs are met and their goals are pursued.

Key responsibilities

• Appraise clients' needs and eligibility for specific services.
• Assess clients' skill strengths and development needs.
• Supervise daily activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses.
• Liaise with social service agencies and health‑care providers involved with clients.
• Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs.
• Support clients with special needs and accompany them to appointments and social outings.

Required profile

• College, CEGEP or other non‑university certificate/diploma (1‑2 years).
• 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience.
• Ability to work independently, handle pressure and lift up to 23 kg (50 lb).
• Certificates: Non‑violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), First Aid, CPR.
• Clear criminal record and driving record checks; valid driver’s licence.
• Strong interpersonal skills, good judgement, client‑focused attitude and excellent written communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
