Ground Handler – Part Time (YEG)

About the role

Join Cargojet’s ground operations team in Edmonton (YEG) as a part‑time Ground Handler. You will ensure safe and timely processing of cargo, aircraft loading and unloading, and warehousing while adhering to strict safety and security protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload aircraft and trucks using ground support equipment.
• Lift and move packages up to 60 lbs repeatedly.
• Sort packages by customer, destination airport, and other parameters.
• Communicate piece counts and package information to Lead Hands and Supervisors.
• Handle customer packages and freight with care, following all safety and security procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping and duties related to Dangerous Goods handling.
• Meet time‑sensitive deadlines for freight build‑up and breakdown as part of a team.
• Learn and apply required training modules (WHMIS, SMS, Dangerous Goods, Hazard Prevention, etc.).

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent).
• Ability to obtain a RAIC security pass.
• Capacity to lift 60 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong punctuality, attendance, and teamwork orientation.
• Willingness to undergo a background check and comply with Cargojet’s drug‑free policy.
• Flexible availability for shift work, weekends and statutory holidays.

Required skills

• Class 5 driver’s licence.
• RAIC (Transport Canada) security clearance.
• WHMIS certification.
• Training in Dangerous Goods handling and hazard prevention.
