Graduate Engineer – Rail & Transit

About the role

GHD is looking for a motivated Graduate Engineer to join its Rail & Transit practice in Ontario. The role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of rail and transit infrastructure projects, from planning and design through construction and hand‑over, within a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in planning, coordinating and delivering commuter rail, heavy rail, LRT, BRT and station projects.
• Assist in developing and maintaining schedules, budgets, risk registers and project reporting tools.
• Participate in project controls activities such as cost tracking, schedule monitoring and resource planning.
• Prepare meeting minutes, action items and follow‑up documentation for client, consultant and contractor meetings.
• Contribute to procurement tasks including RFP preparation, technical submissions and bid evaluation.
• Support document control, quality management and project management system administration.

Required profile

• Recent graduate in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Interest in rail and transit infrastructure and a desire to develop a career in project delivery.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work on‑site three days a week in the Toronto, Markham or Mississauga area.

Required skills

• Understanding of project lifecycle phases (planning, design, construction, hand‑over).
• Familiarity with project scheduling and budgeting concepts.
• Basic knowledge of procurement processes and contract documentation.
