Freight Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Freight Operations Supervisor leads the road freight team to ensure timely, accurate, and cost‑effective transportation services. This role balances operational execution with team development, supporting growth and profitability while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all operational services are completed on schedule and documented according to company guidelines.
• Motivate, guide, and coach team members to meet targets and adopt new processes.
• Liaise with carriers and vendors to align service levels with agreements and compliance requirements.
• Resolve queries, manage carrier payables, and ensure contracts are paid within agreed terms.
• Develop and maintain relationships and processes that improve service and drive growth.
• Analyze and improve Transportation Management System (TMS) to enhance service levels.
• Monitor shipments using track‑and‑trace tools and handle internal quote requests.
• Coordinate with brokerage teams and government agencies for customs releases.
• Ensure accurate billing and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Negotiate carrier rates and secure additional trucking capacity as needed.
• Review financial figures against KPIs and budget, ensuring productivity targets are met.

Required profile

• 1–2 years minimum in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• 5+ years of experience in transportation or logistics (preferred).
• College diploma or university degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade (preferred).
• CIFFA designation is an asset.
• Fluency in French and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Transportation Management System (TMS) platforms.
• Use of track‑and‑trace shipment monitoring tools.
