Food Service Supervisor – Cafeteria Operations

About the role

The Food Service Supervisor will lead the daily operations of a busy cafeteria, ensuring that meals are prepared, portioned, and served to high quality standards. You will coordinate a team of 5‑10 staff members, manage inventory, and address customer concerns in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain work schedules for the service team.
• Order food, kitchen supplies, and manage stock levels.
• Supervise and coordinate staff activities, including food preparation, portioning, and tray assembly.
• Train employees on job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Estimate ingredient needs and control waste.
• Ensure food quality and service meet established standards.
• Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, repairs, and wastage.
• Prepare and submit operational reports and food order summaries for the chef.

Required profile

• College/CEGEP education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work in noisy, hot, and physically demanding environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and varied shifts.
• Willingness to relocate if necessary.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Understanding of the establishment’s culinary genres.
