Fire Services and FireSmart Coordinator

About the role

The Fire Services and FireSmart Coordinator will manage daily delivery of fire protection services and the FireSmart wildfire risk reduction program for Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government, working within the nis̓maakukqinʔaała department and reporting to the Emergency Program Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison with fire protection service providers, maintaining service agreements, compliance records, and scheduling meetings.
• Coordinate the FireSmart workplan, conduct home and landscape assessments, and track vegetation management projects.
• Organise community outreach, workshops, and training sessions, creating culturally relevant education materials.
• Track program expenditures, prepare grant documentation, and manage procurement of fire‑related supplies.
• Support emergency preparedness by assisting in EOC activations, exercises, and response planning.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Emergency Management, Fire Services, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, Public Administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1‑3 years of coordination or field experience in fire services, wildfire mitigation or emergency management.
• Working knowledge of FireSmart BC principles and wildfire mitigation practices.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.
• Clear criminal record check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using digital mapping and data‑tracking tools.
