Fire Protection Specialist

About the role

RJ Bartlett Engineering, a division of CBCL Limited, is seeking a Fire Protection Specialist to join its team in Fredericton, NB (or Halifax, NS). You will apply fire protection codes and standards to commercial and industrial projects, collaborating with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver safe and innovative fire protection solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support for fire protection engineering consulting services both individually and as part of a team.
• Manage drafting and drawing processes, including shop drawing reviews and construction reviews (occasional travel required).
• Conduct fire code consulting, inspections, and integrated system testing.
• Apply NFPA and CAN/ULC standards to develop design drawings and specifications for sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, water supply, and fire alarm systems.

Required profile

• Technical post‑secondary education with eligibility for registration as a PTech/CET/CTech or P.Eng. in Canada.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in construction or engineering consulting with fire protection systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical information exchange.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain detail orientation, and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset and passion for contributing to a positive team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM modelling platforms such as Revit.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20).
• Familiarity with Canadian standards CAN/ULC‑S524, CAN/ULC‑S561, CAN/ULC‑S1001.
• Experience in fire protection system design and drawing management.
