Financial Controller – Branch (Montreal)

About the role

We are seeking a Branch Financial Controller to oversee the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of financial reporting for a Canadian banking branch. This senior‑level position will manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, produce IFRS‑based financial statements, and coordinate with finance teams in Montreal, New York, and Paris.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities for the Canadian branch.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure general ledger accuracy.
• Produce timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and explain financial movements.
• Support regulatory reporting requirements, including OSFI filings.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and act as primary contact for external auditors and tax authorities.
• Ensure strong internal controls and comprehensive accounting process documentation.
• Collaborate with global finance teams to achieve reporting consistency.

Required profile

• CPA designation (or equivalent qualification).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or financial reporting.
• Deep understanding of IFRS and financial statement preparation.
• Proven experience with month‑end close and general‑ledger environments.
• Exposure to audit processes and regulated financial environments.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Bilingual English/French preferred.
