Finance Controller – Full‑Time, $80‑90k

About the role

The Finance Controller reports to the Band Manager and leads the financial operations of ʔEsdilagh First Nation. The role ensures accurate accounting, compliance, budgeting and provides financial insights to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports for Chief & Council.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
• Direct and supervise the Finance Officer.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements to meet regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement budgeting processes and annual operating budgets.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure integrity of financial data.
• Handle tax filings, statutory reporting and liaison with external auditors.
• Collaborate with other departments to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• 5+ years of controller experience leading a finance/accounting team.
• Advanced knowledge of Canadian financial accounting practices.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Experience with Sage financial software.
• Knowledge of Sage Intacct.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
