Field Safety Professional – On‑site Safety Specialist

About the role
This on‑site safety position with Eagle Builders places you directly on active construction jobs across Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. You’ll build trust with crews, coach safe practices in real time, and ensure safety standards are consistently applied.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with field crews, site representatives, project managers and subcontractors.
- Be present on active job sites to observe work, provide real‑time coaching and reinforce safe practices.
- Lead safety meetings, orientations and training for employees and sub‑trades.
- Conduct inspections, hazard assessments and follow‑up until issues are resolved.
- Investigate incidents, first‑aid events and near‑misses, recommending corrective actions.
- Review safety manuals, create safe‑job procedures and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Coordinate safety requirements throughout project startup, construction phases and closeout.
- Maintain safety documentation, statistics, SDS binders and prime‑contractor packages.
- Pre‑qualify subcontractors, verify WCB clearance and insurance certificates.
- Confirm emergency equipment, first‑aid supplies and other safety resources are stocked.
Required profile
- Relationship builder who earns trust with crews and supervisors.
- Confident, direct communicator able to address unsafe work without resistance.
- Present and engaged – works alongside field teams rather than from a desk.
- Practical problem‑solver who translates safety requirements into workable solutions.
- Organized and accountable, keeping documentation current and following concerns through resolution.
- Adaptable traveler comfortable with frequent site changes and away‑from‑home work.
Required skills
- NCSO designation (or in progress).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driving abstract.
- Standard First Aid & CPR, WHMIS Train‑the‑Trainers, Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform certifications.
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, WHMIS and WCB requirements.
- Experience with workplace inspections, hazard assessments and incident investigations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal English communication.
- Experience using SiteDocs or comparable safety‑management software.
