Facilities Technician

About the role

Black & McDonald is expanding its Facilities Management team and seeks a dependable Facilities Technician to support daily operations of a high‑occupancy residential building. The role combines hands‑on maintenance work with coordination of work orders and service vendors to ensure a safe, functional environment for occupants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and life‑safety systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues, identify root causes and implement long‑term solutions.
• Manage work orders in the CMMS, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation.
• Coordinate and oversee vendors and contractors, verifying safety and quality standards.
• Carry out general building repairs such as drywall patching, painting, minor carpentry, and fixture replacement.
• Support day‑to‑day operations including unit turnovers, equipment setup and maintaining clean common areas.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in building maintenance, facilities management or related field; trade certificates are an asset.
• 1–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a similar technical role.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with a CMMS or work‑order system preferred.
• Valid Ontario G driver’s licence preferred and ability to pass background screening.
