Executive Director, Budget, Planning & Finance

About the role

The Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto is seeking an Executive Director to lead its Budget, Planning & Finance function. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will guide a team of over 30 professionals and support the Faculty’s strategic growth and research excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Refine and advance the Faculty’s new budget model and financial planning processes.
• Strengthen forecasting capabilities and provide data‑driven decision support.
• Lead major institutional modernization initiatives and promote analytics‑based decision‑making.
• Serve as the senior financial advisor to the Dean, Vice‑Deans, Department Chairs, College Principals and senior administrators.
• Build and maintain partnerships across the University, including central administration, constituent colleges and federated universities.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience overseeing complex budgets in a large, multi‑faceted organization, preferably in the post‑secondary sector.
• Proven ability to advise senior leaders and influence strategic financial decisions.
• Experience working in fiscally constrained environments.
• Strategic, collaborative leadership style with strong communication skills.
