Events Officer

About the role

The Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science (QCBS) is seeking an Events Officer to lead the planning and execution of a major international conference in Montreal in June 2027. This fixed‑term position will ensure the event runs smoothly, enhances QCBS visibility, and delivers a high‑quality participant experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the conference project plan, timelines, and budget.
• Design the participant experience, including hybrid/virtual formats.
• Draft and coordinate all event communications, website content, registration systems, and promotional materials.
• Chair the scientific committee, oversee abstract submission and peer‑review workflows.
• Identify and liaise with venues, caterers, and service providers; arrange travel and logistics for plenary speakers and high‑level guests.
• Act as the primary liaison with external biodiversity networks, sponsors, and partners.
• Monitor the event budget, process expenditures, and support financial reporting in line with McGill procedures.

Required profile

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., event management, communications, environmental science).
• Demonstrated experience organizing large‑scale conferences or scientific events.
