English for Access Teacher (Grades 9‑12) – Temporary

About the role

Winston Churchill High School is seeking a dedicated English for Access Teacher to support students in grades 9 to 12. This temporary, full‑time position runs from August 25, 2026 to June 29, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on the incumbent's return. The role is integral to the school's International Baccalaureate (IB) program and its commitment to inclusive, high‑quality education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess English curriculum tailored for access and inclusion across grades 9‑12.
• Collaborate with IB coordinators and fellow teachers to integrate interdisciplinary learning.
• Provide differentiated instruction and support to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate outcomes to families.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives that promote diversity, kindness, and community engagement.

Required profile

• Valid teaching certification for secondary English in Alberta.
• Experience teaching secondary students, preferably in an IB or inclusive setting.
• Strong commitment to fostering a supportive, diverse learning environment.
• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet varied academic levels.
