Engineer-in-Training – New Graduate Program (Oil Sands)

About the role

Cenovus is seeking recent engineering graduates to join its three‑year New Grad Program as Engineer‑in‑Training. The program provides rotational experience across its oil‑sands operations and corporate engineering functions, preparing participants for a permanent role within the company.

Key responsibilities

• Complete three consecutive 12‑month rotations in areas such as development engineering, field facility engineering, drilling & completions, integrity engineering, maintenance & reliability, operations, process engineering, safety, process controls, process design, production engineering, project engineering, and reservoir engineering.
• Support engineering projects and field activities at Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Sunrise, or Calgary sites.
• Engage with mentors, attend training sessions, and build a professional network across the organization.
• Contribute to technical solutions and operational improvements during each rotation.

Required profile

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Available to start in June 2027.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Chemical/Process, or Petroleum Engineering obtained by May 31 2027 and completed within the last two years.
• Eligibility to register for an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) designation.
• Less than two years of professional experience in the relevant engineering discipline, excluding student projects.
