Engineer - E4 (Distribution Planning)

About the role

The Engineer – E4 (Distribution – Planning) will provide engineering, estimating, planning and quality‑management services for medium‑complexity BC Hydro projects and operations. This is a 12‑month hybrid position based in Edmonds, BC, working 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Develop safe engineering solutions, designs and analyses for distribution projects.
• Assist project and operations management to meet safety, cost, quality and schedule objectives.
• Resolve technical and field engineering problems through independent studies and analysis.
• Contribute to BC Hydro’s engineering practice, technical standards and future capability development.
• Prepare progress reports, coordinate work schedules and recommend contractor payments.

Required profile

• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC, or eligible for registration.
• Intermediate English communication skills for a professional environment.
• Possession of a Permit to Practice with EGBC (sole practitioner or firm).

Required skills

• CAD systems and drawing standards.
• Generator interconnection standards such as CSA C22.3 No.9 and IEEE 1547.
• Distributed Generation equipment interconnection and interconnection studies.
• Inverters and inverter standards (UL 1741).
• Standard industry design/analysis software.
• MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Digital Sign and Seal technology (as required by BC Hydro).
