About the role
The Energy Manager will support the delivery of an Energy‑as‑a‑Service program for a multi‑year project in the Niagara Region. Working closely with the client’s facilities team and Blackstone’s engineers, you will drive measurable energy‑savings and GHG‑reduction targets through analytics, BAS optimization and retro‑commissioning.
Key responsibilities
- Track campus‑ and building‑level energy use using utility data, submeters and BAS trends; develop KPIs to monitor performance.
- Conduct primary assessments of mechanical systems and BAS controls, identify improvement opportunities and recommend sequencing or scheduling changes.
- Coordinate with the client’s facilities team and controls trades to implement recommended measures.
- Use analytics and fault‑detection‑and‑diagnostics (FDD) outputs to support troubleshooting, retro‑commissioning and verification of equipment installations.
- Develop and prioritize energy‑efficiency and GHG‑reduction projects, prepare business cases and support applications to funding programs.
- Maintain a project registry of savings opportunities, track status, costs and outcomes, and report to IESO Energy Manager milestones.
Required profile
- College diploma or engineering degree in Mechanical, Energy or related discipline.
- Registered or willing to register as an Energy Manager in Training (EMIT) and obtain the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation within one year.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in energy management, building performance or retro‑commissioning.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation (BAS) controls.
- Experience with energy analytics, FDD platforms and measurement‑and‑verification activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Ability to use Python or R for data analysis (asset).
- Familiarity with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, RETScreen and project‑management tools.
