Employment Program Coach

About the role

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and motivated Employment Program Coach to support individuals experiencing barriers to employment as they build the skills, confidence, and experience needed for meaningful, sustainable work.

Key responsibilities

• Coach and mentor participants as they develop workplace skills and employment readiness.
• Support participants in gaining hands‑on experience through Ruth's Coffee, the Street Team, and other employment placements.
• Coordinate Street Team activities, schedules, and daily logistics.
• Supervise participants during community‑based work experiences.
• Build positive relationships with participants, staff, businesses, and community partners.
• Support employment readiness workshops and participant development.
• Monitor participant progress and maintain accurate documentation.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and trauma‑informed learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with individuals experiencing barriers to employment.
• Experience supporting people facing homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental health challenges, or other complex circumstances.
• Background in coaching, mentoring, employment support, or vocational rehabilitation.
• Strong communication, relationship‑building, and organizational abilities.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• First Aid, Naloxone, and de‑escalation training (or willingness to obtain).
• Lived or living experience related to mental illness, substance use, recovery, or employment barriers (valued).
