Emerging Leader in Advanced Manufacturing (Assistant Professor)

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia seeks an early‑career researcher to join as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor under the Canada Impact+ Emerging Leaders program. The successful candidate will lead an independent research program in advanced manufacturing and contribute to teaching and service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a research program in autonomous and smart manufacturing, including in‑process sensing, digital twins, and robotic autonomy.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise Masters and PhD students, and participate in departmental service.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Early‑career researcher eligible for a full‑time, tenure‑track appointment at UBC.
• Demonstrated ability to establish a successful research program and strong communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary range $125,000–$150,000 CAD per year
