Emergency Physician (Full‑time)

About the role

Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) are seeking full‑time Emergency Physicians to join the Columbia Emergency Physicians Association. The position involves providing high‑quality emergency care across two busy, tertiary‑care sites while contributing to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to a diverse patient population in a high‑volume, high‑acuity setting.
• Supervise and teach residents and medical students during clinical shifts.
• Participate in departmental research, quality‑improvement projects, and simulation training.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on trauma, pediatric, and geriatric emergency cases.
• Maintain on‑call coverage and flexible shift scheduling (approximately 13 shifts per month).

Required profile

• CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM) certification and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
• PALS or APLS certification within the past five years; ABEM certification is also acceptable.
• Experience in a high‑volume, high‑acuity Emergency Department, preferably with trauma and pediatric exposure.
• ATLS or comparable trauma certification is highly recommended.
• Demonstrated interest in research, education, physician leadership, or geriatric emergency medicine.
