Emergency Physician (Full‑time)

About the role

Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) are seeking full‑time Emergency Physicians to join the Columbia Emergency Physicians Association. The position involves providing high‑quality emergency care across two busy, tertiary‑care sites serving the Fraser Health region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive emergency medical assessment, treatment, and disposition for adult, pediatric, and trauma patients.
• Participate in teaching activities, including supervising residents and medical students on shift.
• Contribute to research, quality‑improvement projects, and departmental leadership initiatives.
• Maintain on‑call and shift coverage, averaging approximately 13 shifts per month.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient patient flow.

Required profile

• Current certification in CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM); ABEM certification is also acceptable.
• Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
• PALS or APLS certification obtained within the past five years.
• Experience in a high‑volume, high‑acuity emergency department preferred, especially with trauma and pediatric populations.
• Interest in research, education, simulation, or geriatric emergency medicine is valued.

Required skills

• ATLS or comparable trauma certification (e.g., STRUC) is highly recommended.
