Emergency Medicine Physician – Kelowna General Hospital

About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to join its vibrant, high‑volume Emergency Department. The department serves over 100,000 annual visits and provides a full spectrum of acute care, from trauma to complex cardiac cases, in a collegial, community‑hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population, including trauma, cardiac critical care, and stroke emergencies.
• Participate in rapid assessment, resuscitation, and management of acute medical and surgical conditions.
• Collaborate closely with consultants, specialists, and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care.
• Contribute to the teaching mission by supervising residents and medical students in bedside teaching, simulation, and academic rounds.
• Maintain active involvement in departmental quality improvement and peer‑review activities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in high‑acuity emergency settings, preferably with trauma or cardiac critical care exposure.
• Strong commitment to teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning.
• Willingness to engage in academic activities and community outreach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ECMO management.
• Experience with open‑heart surgery support and coronary revascularization procedures.
• Skill in endovascular thrombectomy techniques.
• Competence in trauma resuscitation and advanced cardiac life support.
