Electronics Engineering Technologist – Quantum Control Firmware

About the role

Q-Block Computing is looking for an Electronics Engineering Technologist to join its Quantum Control Firmware team in Ottawa. You will help develop and validate a scalable, real‑time embedded control platform for quantum hardware used in sensing, communication and computation.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and bench‑test embedded firmware modules for ARM Cortex‑M microcontroller platforms within the Arduino/PlatformIO ecosystem.
• Set up and validate peripheral interfaces (DAC, ADC, DDS, PLL, digital potentiometers, RF attenuator/amplifier ICs) over SPI and LVDS.
• Load firmware builds on target hardware, capture performance metrics and document results.
• Execute validation procedures for DMA channels, GPIO routines and interrupt‑driven I/O timing.
• Operate laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
• Document test results, setup procedures and anomalies in engineering logs and report findings.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or related field.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in electronics or embedded systems bench work, testing or hardware bring‑up.

Required skills

• ARM Cortex‑M microcontroller platforms.
• Arduino, PlatformIO (Teensy) environments.
• SPI, I2C, UART communication protocols.
• Peripheral devices: DAC, ADC, DDS, PLL, digital potentiometers, RF attenuator/amplifier ICs.
• DMA, GPIO, interrupt‑driven I/O.
• Laboratory instruments: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers.
• Digital control loops (PI2D, FIR/IIR) and basic DSP concepts.
