Election Official (2026 General Local Election)

About the role

The City of Maple Ridge is seeking community‑focused individuals to serve as Election Officials for the 2026 General Local Election on October 17, 2026, and for advance voting between October 7‑15, 2026. This hands‑on position ensures a smooth, welcoming, and accessible voting experience for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Set up voting places, including booths, signs, and notices.
• Greet voters, direct them to the correct lines, and explain the voting process.
• Assist voters at the vote tabulator and provide instructions as needed.
• Verify voter identities using computer programs or paper lists, register new voters, and make changes to existing registrations.
• Issue ballots, pack equipment, and close the voting site at the end of the shift.
• Maintain cleanliness of voting stations and handle equipment responsibly.

Required profile

• Legally entitled to work in British Columbia.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
• Reliable transportation to and from the voting station.
• Available to attend mandatory training and to work a full shift (approximately 14 hours).
• Not related to any candidate or actively working for any election campaign.
