Education Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an Education Assistant to support students with special needs in Chilliwack. The role involves helping students complete assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students with assignments and tasks to meet social, physical, academic, and life‑skill objectives outlined in their IEP.
• Maintain documentation such as behavior logs and anecdotal notes.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, field trips, and new environments.
• Facilitate integration skills and reinforce learning using teacher‑developed lesson plans.
• Collect and record data to evaluate student progress and behavioral objectives.
• Organise classroom materials and implement teacher‑specified plans.
• Ensure student safety, follow emergency protocols, and be aware of relevant medical concerns.
• Maintain accurate student records while respecting confidentiality.

Required profile

• Participates in all tasks associated with the Special Needs Program and adheres to Highroad Academy’s code of conduct.
• Communicates openly with classroom teachers and department heads, raising concerns promptly.
• Demonstrates professionalism, maintains boundaries, and respects confidentiality for students and staff.
• Shows flexibility with schedule changes and supports other students when needed.
• Promotes a positive image of special‑needs students within the school and broader community.
