Education Assistant – Classroom & Student Support

About the role

The Education Assistant supports the school principal and classroom teachers in delivering a safe, inclusive learning environment for students at Outma Sqilx'w Cultural School. Working directly with students and staff, the role assists with instructional activities, behavioural plans, and daily routines to enhance student success.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students with integration into classroom and school settings, providing one‑on‑one and small‑group support.
• Implement learning activities and interventions such as Read Well, Dibels, and ability groups under teacher supervision.
• Monitor and report student progress, supporting individual education and behavioural management plans.
• Supervise students during gym, playground, recess, field trips, and bus loading.
• Support the school breakfast program and assist with language, math, science, and social studies clubs.
• Prepare and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse learning styles.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement classroom resources.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education in education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferably in a school or community setting.
• Ability to follow structured plans and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive role‑model attitude.
