Early Learning Assistant – Before & After School (Term)

About the role

The Early Learning Assistant works under the direction of an Early Childhood Educator to provide supervised childcare for students before and after school at Sir Winston Churchill Public School. This term‑based role supports child‑centered play and models appropriate behaviour during extended day periods.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of childcare for students during before‑school (7:00‑9:15 am) and after‑school (3:30‑5:30 pm) sessions.
• Enhance child‑based play activities and encourage positive social interaction.
• Guide and model appropriate behaviour techniques for school‑age children.
• Perform additional duties to support the overall objectives of the extended day program.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Minimum one (1) year of post‑secondary experience providing childcare to school‑age children in a group setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification from a WSIB‑approved provider.
• Police record check for the vulnerable sector (valid within the last 6 months for new hires, 5 years for current employees).
• Current immunization record with MMR and Tdap vaccinations (or documented chicken‑pox immunity).
