Early Childhood Educator – Infant/Toddler (0‑3 years)

About the role

Seabird Island is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to provide hands‑on care and learning experiences for infants and toddlers (0‑3 years). Working under the Early Childhood Education Team Lead, you will help create a culturally safe, inclusive environment that honors Indigenous knowledge and supports each child's holistic development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver developmentally and culturally appropriate activities that nurture cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth.
• Assist with meal and snack preparation while adhering to dietary and food‑safety standards.
• Supervise children directly, ensuring safety, well‑being, and engagement in meaningful experiences.
• Maintain accurate health records, administer medication as required, and document accidents, injuries, or safety concerns.
• Track attendance, comply with licensing regulations, and fulfill mandatory reporting for suspected abuse or neglect.
• Support field trips, enrichment activities, and daily centre operations.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the community to foster strong partnerships.

Required profile

• Ability to work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education team and follow direction from the Team Lead.
• Commitment to culturally safe practices that respect Indigenous traditions and community values.
• Strong communication skills for engaging families and reporting health or safety incidents.
• Attention to detail in record‑keeping and compliance with licensing standards.
