Early Childhood Educator – Auxiliary (Hourly)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator – Auxiliary to join the UBC Okanagan Child Care Centre. This hourly, auxiliary position supports a licensed group‑care environment, providing safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate experiences for children in a culturally diverse community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily activities that promote learning through play, nature‑based exploration, and sensory experiences.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment in accordance with licensing regulations.
• Build positive, supportive relationships with each child, recognizing individual strengths and needs.
• Collaborate with the teaching team, faculty, and staff to integrate university resources and community partnerships.
• Document observations, progress, and any incidents accurately and promptly.

Required profile

• Current BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification.
• Current Emergency Child Care First Aid certification.
• Clear Criminal Record Check.
• Strong organizational, communication, and judgment skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
