Early Childhood Assistant – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

The Child Development Institute is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to join the Fraser Mustard Early Learning Centre team for a twelve‑month fixed‑term contract. Working under the guidance of a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), you will help create a safe, nurturing environment that supports the developmental needs of young children.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise children and ensure a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Assist the RECE in implementing the centre’s curriculum and daily program.
• Apply the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Children’s Service AQI standards, and Ontario early‑years pedagogy.
• Collaborate with the ELC Director and teaching team to plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation required by Toronto Public Health.
• Support transitions, meals, rest times, and hygiene routines.

Required profile

• Understanding of developmental milestones for the age group served.
• Familiarity with CCEYA regulations and Ontario early‑years learning frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑teaching environment.
• Strong communication skills with children, families, and staff.
