Description du poste

About the role

The Water for Life Initiative (WFLI) is looking for a Drilling and Technology Specialist, a commissioned, full-time position based at the National Headquarters in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The specialist supports field partners with drilling operations and procurement, giving expertise and training on efficient use of drilling equipment and best practices, and keeping drilling records up to date. The role reports to the WFLI Operations and Technical Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Keep drilling operations well managed: monitor equipment downtime with field partners, coordinate operational plans with drill teams, and ensure drilling data and well statistics are kept so resources are used efficiently.
  • Make sure materials and supplies reach the field on time: forecast needs for spare parts, reusable supplies and equipment such as vehicles, engage the supplier network, manage the equipment database and monitor inventory of pumps, pipes and other supplies, especially from Europe, Asia and Africa.
  • Research, recommend and implement new equipment, systems and tools, train drill teams, develop technical manuals for drilling procedures and well development, and roll out safety policies for field staff.
  • Carry out field visits as needed to ensure effective program implementation.

Required profile

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a relief and development ministry or related industry in an international development setting.
  • At least 2 years working with drilling equipment or other heavy equipment.
  • A passionate, mature and disciplined Christian life, with a pre-existing belief and lifestyle consistent with the P2C Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to travel internationally and hold or obtain a valid passport; a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search are required because the work involves children.

Required skills

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Google Suite platform.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in cross-cultural settings and with government officials; technical aptitude is an asset.

The position is funded through Ministry Partner Development, where a partner team provides financial and prayer support covering the candidate's salary and ministry expenses.
