Donor Experience Officer

About the role

The Donor Experience Officer joins University Advancement to engage and cultivate members of the McGill community, driving philanthropic support for the university’s priorities. Reporting to the Associate Director, Annual Giving, the role focuses on securing Annual Fund Leadership gifts ranging from $1,000 to $24,999.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 500+ Annual Fund Leadership donors.
• Develop and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to secure $1,000+ gifts.
• Identify, assess, and engage prospective donors using best‑practice outreach.
• Leverage donor interests to build tailored cases for support.
• Promote McGill’s fundraising priorities and upgrade lower‑level donors to leadership status.
• Coordinate hand‑offs to Development Officers for major‑gift conversations.
• Collaborate with the Bequest & Planned Gifts office on legacy giving prospects.
• Participate in university events and maintain accurate records in the prospect management system.

Required profile

• Strong relationship‑building skills within a university community.
• Ability to manage a large donor portfolio and meet fundraising targets.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on donor stewardship.

Required skills

• Experience with donor management or prospect management systems.
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor engagement strategies.
